Pumpkin carving is so much fun! The body functions as a lantern for several days but the seeds are usually thrown away. However, this is a pity! Pumpkin seeds are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, iron, zinc, phosphor, and vitamin A. If you want to use up the pumpkin seeds as well, here is an easy peasy and delicious recipe for homemade roasted pumpkin seeds:
You will need:
- pumpkin seeds freshly scratched out of the pumpkin body
- olive oil
- an oven
In order to free the seeds from the fruit pulp scrub a handful of seeds in between two pieces of paper towel. The fruit flesh will stick to the paper towel giving away clean pumpkin seeds. Collect the clean seeds in a bowl and add some olive oil and salt. Mix carefully with a spoon. Distribute the seeds on a baking plate covered with baking parchment and put the plate into a preheated oven at 392 °F (i.e., 200 °C) for about 10 minutes. You will end up with delicious and healthy munchies. Enjoy!
